I have been experimenting more and more with heavily textured surfaces. One half of this piece is the result of this experimenting. It is achieved by embedding various bits of ground up partly fired engobe and bits of clay into the soft clay surface. The clear glaze that partly covers this section helps to reveal the variety of colours within this surface. It reminds me of the variety of colours of individual grains of sand that go to make up an overall sandy brown beach.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides . Fired to 1140C
