There is a richness in the surface of this piece that has been built up with washes of slip and engobe. I really like the effect of the terracotta slip around the top half of the piece that can still be seen under a wash of white engobe. The additional lines have been drawn on with underglaze pencil and a ceramic pastel. The stone that has been fired into the piece was found at Basore Point which is within Mounts Bay here in Cornwall.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides . Fired to 1140C
