I have always liked the ambiguity of crosses; its such a basic symbol that means different things to different people. I didn't want the cross to be too central on this piece, so it appears to be crossing over the bottom edge of the pot. The white area has been made richer with the addition of pastel marks that add another shade of white to the surface. The rich green transparent glaze highlights the top edge and also continues part way inside the pot.
