This piece felt as though it had been dived up into sections not unlike the way that the landscape around me is divided into fields that contain crops and soils of different colours and textures. The texture on the bottom part of this piece was created by adding additional clay to the form and then slicing it off with a wire; this leaves a distinct fine texture that I wanted to preserve. The top half has ground up bits of dried slip that have been rolled into the surface when the clay was soft.
Made by wrapping soft clay around a wooden former. Surface achieved with embedded grog. incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides .Fired to 1140C
