Pink Sand, Washed Beach
Height 13.5cm Width 8.5cm Depth 5cm
Only once I had made this piece did I realise how it loosely represented some of the geological effects that I see along the beach landscape here in Cornwall. In fact some of the dark speckles in its surface are ground up bits of geological sample that I have found on the beach. I like the way that these dark speckles are reminiscent of the grains of dark sand that leave marks on the beach once the tide has washed out.
Made by wrapping soft clay around a wooden former. Surface achieved with embedded grog. incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides .Fired to 1140C
