The black clay background colour contrasts dramatically with the lighter engobe and slip colours applied to the surface. The scribbly darker marks on the white half of the piece that could suggest lettering, are created using a monoprint technique. Although the red mark only covers a small part of the surface it is a crucial element that adds some intensity to the colours.
Slab built with black clay with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides . Fired to 1140C
