The lines on the square that has been set into the top edge were made by dragging the end of a paintbrush through thick wet engobe. A short film of me doing this is on my recent Instagram feed. The red mark adds a focal point but is additionally enhanced with a small amount of pink and almost unseen blue underglaze behind the red mark.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140C
