This piece is one of several in this collection has has been formed by wrapping soft clay around a wooden block. This technique allows me to work on the surface when the clay is still soft and more responsive to being marked. At the right time the wooden block is taken out and the clay allowed to dry fully. The clay body is a lightly grogged terracotta which is a perfect base colour for the lighter colours applied over the top.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140C
