There is a slight suggestion of some kind of repeated architectural form in this piece. From a compositional point of view it was important that the dark rectangular shape crossed the join and helped to create a visual link between the 2 halves. The impressed marks towards the top edge have a glossy blue glaze over them and creates a variation to the otherwise matt texture.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140C
