This is quite an unusual shape for me to make but I like exploring sculptural forms and how surface marks can enhance these form. The dark edge has a black clay slip applied to it and then a wash of white engobe that creates some depth to the surface and highlights the slight texture. Most of the piece has a matt finish but the circle shape has a transparent turquoise glaze over it and adds a tactile contrast to the surface.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140C
