The black clay body is still evident under the surface and offers a darker contrasting tone to the lighter colours that have been applied over it. Around the bottom half the white engobe has been lightly brushed on to catch the top edge of the textural lines that have been made by drawing my fingers across the soft clay. The white around the top edge is the same engobe material that has been allowed to dry out before being applied as a powder onto the wetter clay. The surface is matt apart from the glossy pinky orange transparent glazed corner.
