Height 12cm Width 7cm Depth 4.5cm
While the soft clay was wrapped around a wooden block I used the corner of a piece of wood to tap the bottom corner of this piece to leave this indented texture. Once fired the texture was enhanced with a wash of red underglaze that was applied and then wiped off leaving the underglaze in the indents. I often think that it’s the less obvious bits of colour that can give a piece of work depth and richness and in this piece the little bit of green below the blue glazed top edge achieves this.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
