Despite the variety of textures and marks on it’s surface this piece has a light and quiet feel to it. There is a glossy transparent glaze over one side of it which creates a contrasting tactile feel to the otherwise matt surface. A wash of terracotta slip was applied as a base coat and additional layers of thicker white engobe have been applied of this. The green chalk like marks have been applied using one of my ceramic pastels. Unusually this piece has a blue glazed inside as opposed to the usual dark oxide finish.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
