I really like the composition of shapes in this piece and how they fit around the 3-dimensional form. My work is rarely about specific places but this was made in response to a bit of landscape where an ancient footpath crosses over some granite steps from one field into another. I am never attempting to create visual representations of places, instead I want to capture the feel of a place and this one does that perfectly.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
