Iron Walls
Height 14.5cm Width 9cm Depth 4.5cm
This piece is made of a course textured terracotta clay that has a rich fired colour that is still visible in the finished surface. The small white circular shaped pieces were pre fired and pushed into the soft terracotta clay. I like that they have a sharp but irregular outline and a small oxide filled gap around them where one clay has shrunk more than the other. Most of the surface has a matt finish but the bottom section has a glossy white glaze as a contrasting tactile quality.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
