Numbers are often used to record and measure changing processes and events. In this case it could be the depth and time of the tide moving across the beach. I have collaged distorted number shapes to suggest that process of measuring and recording changing natural events. The overall blue, green and white colours are contrasted with the pink pre-fired granules that have been imbedded into the soft clay. Most of the number shapes have been applied with stencils but some have been drawn using an underglaze pencil and some impressed into pre-fired tiles which are then pressed into the soft clay.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
