The green area around the bottom edge of this piece has a transparent glossy green glaze over it which helps to enhance the textural surface that it covers. The lighter area has been achieved by building up layers of slip and engobe. There is still a hint of terracotta colour which was the first layer to be applied. The darker circular scribble lines around the top edge have been applied using a monoprint technique. There is definitely a suggestion of an horizon and open sky in this piece.
