Lower Flow

Height 13cm Width 15.5cm Depth 7.5cm

There is a subtle sense of movement in this piece mainly due to the green glazed line that changes thickness as it curves round the form. I think this comes from looked at the sea on a small scale and watching the flow of water around rocks or looking at the sea on a bigger scale and observing how the tide and waves create currents that push huge quantities of water around. The bottom edge has a very thin wash of white engobe applied over terracotta slip, the thin engobe has helped to emphasise the brush marks in the terracotta.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
