Red Corner
Height 0cm Width 0cm Depth 0cm
I like having the possibility to re-fire my work if I think a piece needs refinement. This piece had to be fired several times to get the pink colour right. The benefit of re-firing is that there is also a depth of colour to the pink section as it’s been built up with different layers of slip and engobe. The surface is mainly matt but one edge has a glossy white glaze over it which creates a contrasting tactile element. My pots always feel like they have 2 sides to them and this allows me to use the same colours and shapes but vary and explore slightly different compositions. In this piece I enjoyed moving the red shape to different positions along the top edge.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
