Red Horizon

£520.00

Height 27cm Width 18cm Depth 10cm

This piece evolved from a specific drawing in my sketchbook. I often have a looser more experimental and less precious approach to drawing and this can lead to new and unexpected combinations of shapes and colours. I liked how the blue and terracotta shapes followed the edge of the main form and that they overlap and right angles. The dark blue incised lines that cross from the terracotta to the white area add a contrasting size of line to the bigger shapes but also create a visual link between the 2 shapes. The combination of terracotta slip and the red glaze also worked well.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
