Height 15cm Width 9cm Depth 9cm

I wanted the red mark to be quite prominent on this piece, so rather than just paint it onto the surface I first added a thin slab of clay that I could paint the red glaze on to. The thin slab deliberately juts up a little above the top edge of the piece which breaks up the outline of the form and makes the surface more 3-dimensional. Another way of introducing colour onto the surface is to add coloured grog that is embedded into the surface of the soft clay, this piece is a good example of how that can be done.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
