Quay Marks
Height 14cm Width 10cm Depth 7.5cm
These black pieces are added by cutting a slot into the soft clay and inserting a piece of clay into the gap. This way of doing it takes time but I like that it means they are also visible on the inside of the pot. The bottom section has pieces of coloured grog that I make rolled into the surface and over this is a transparent blue glaze that has a glossy surface that contrasts with the otherwise matt surface. The red mark on the side is a important feature but the subtle green haze around it is equally important as a contrasting colour to the red.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
