Two Circles
Height 12.5cm Width 7cm Depth 5cm
This smaller piece is made of black clay that has been wrapped around a wooden block. This way of working allows me to work on the surface while the clay is still soft as the wooden block supports the wet clay. The result of this are the soft qualities of the clay that are retained in the fired piece.
One of the 2 circles (or are they zeros or Os?) is achieved with a stencil the other with a monoprint technique that leaves a very distinctive line. A little bit of pink glossy glaze has been added around the bottom edge to enhance the subtle pink colour.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
