I really like the marks and texture on this piece which were made by making marks into the soft clay slab and then stretching it so the marks distorted and stretched. This slab was then cut and assembled making sure that the marks ended up in the right place to suit the form. I like the contrast in this piece between the dark textured area and the lighter plainer space. The colours look relatively simple but there is an important green hue in the white section that creates a nice contrast to the more prominent red and pink mark.
The white edge around the top edge has a glossy white glaze over it which has a different tactile quality to the otherwise matt surface.
