Height 13cm Width 19cm Depth 8cm
This piece captures the excitement of forming the clay in a slightly new way that I was recently exploring. I made some impressed marks in the soft clay slab and then stretched the clay so that the marks became larger, more distorted and turned to holes. The slab was then cut and assembled making sure that the marks related carefully to the overall form of the piece. The narrower end pieces also act as legs that lift the piece off the surface making it feel visually lighter.
That little bit of green next to the pink is no accident and makes the pink more vibrant.
This piece of work is not designed to hold water.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
