Height 15cm Width 8cm Depth 4.5cm
This is one of the pieces in the exhibition that has been made by wrapping the soft clay around wooden blocks. The wooden blocks support the clay allowing most of the forming of the piece and mark making on the surface to be done while the clay is still soft. When the clay is dry enough the wooden blocks are removed and the soft visual qualities of the clay are retained in the finished piece. The colours and movement of the brush marks remind me of a breezy day looking out to sea at Godrevy.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
