There is a very notable changes in the height of the tides around our coast and at times the very highest tides creep into places that the sea wouldn’t normally reach. The yellow ochre coloured band on this piece was created using a gritty terracotta clay body slip. The green turquoise area that is outlined by the yellow ochre band has been achieved with layers of engobe and then a glossy glaze. I spend time walking the coast and observing the weather and sea conditions and this piece is a result of those experiences.
