Height 20cm Width 10.5cm Depth 4.5cm
There is something about the colours in this piece that reminds me of a certain time of the year where summer is disappearing and being replaced by darker days and cooler air. The dark bottom edge has a black clay slip over it with additional lighter grog that is imbedded into the soft clay. There is a hint of green in there too and a glossy glaze over part of this darker area. The circular shapes have been made by impressing old wooden printing blocks into the soft clay and filling the indented mark with coloured glaze or engobe.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
