Making shapes that protrude off the edge of a form is something that I’ve become more and more interested in and this piece accentuates this idea. Although the piece has a predominantly matt surface the green area has been achieved with a glossy transparent green glaze. Most of the surface area is white space but bluey grey and green is still visible through the white which makes this area less flat and richer.
I think the brown almost circular shapes that are almost evenly spaced remind me of Neolithic stones that have been carefully placed in the landscape for reasons that are no longer apparent.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
