Height 23cm Width 16cm Depth 9.5cm
I think the colours of this piece must come from my walks and observations of the coast and beach around the Gwithian and Godrevy . The lighter blue shape has a matt finish while the darker area at the base has a glaze over a crazed engobe which creates a more glossy finish. I have become more and more interested in making work where the shapes protrude off the edge of the outline of the form and this is a really good example of this. An important additional element is the pink chalk like mark that follows the edge of the blue shape; this brings a subtle colour contrast which elevates the blue colours.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
