Height 15cm Width 11.5cm Depth 10.5cm

I wanted the red mark to be quite prominent in this piece, so rather than just brushing the red colour onto the surface I first added a thin strip of clay that raised up the red mark and allowed it to protrude slightly above the top edge of the piece. The yellow colour is quite important in this piece but there is depth and variation in the yellow colour that was achieved by brushing layers of terracotta slip on the surface before the yellow was applied over it. The dark drawn marks were applied with an engobe pastel that I make and are a nice contrast to the other marks which are mostly applied by brush.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
