The characteristic texture on this piece has been achieved by imbedding pre fired pieces into the soft clay combined with impressed marks that have been made darker with the addition of oxides. There is a thin wash of white engobe over the coarse grogged terracotta clay that the piece is made of. The bottom half has a glossy turquoise and blue glaze over it while the top half remains matt. The chalk like marks are made with a pastel that I make and have been made permanent in the firing.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
