Height 16cm Width 12cm Depth 7.5cm

I think of these yellow circles as marks that are not just on the surface but protrude off the edge of the form. The blue / green colour around the bottom edge is achieved with a glossy glaze that has a shiny tactile quality which contrasts with the majority of the surface which is more matt. This glaze covers the small indented marks that were made with the sharp corner of a piece of wood which makes just the right mark when tapped against the soft clay. There is a concentration of marks and colour over some of the surface but the whiter and plainer area which covers the rest of the piece is just as important from a compositional viewpoint.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
