Height 15cm Width 15cm Depth 8cm

I can’t claim that these feet, legs, inserts……. are particularly new but in this piece they remind me of a specific event when I was crossing a narrow bit of the estuary with the tide coming in. There were stepping stones that made a repeat pattern through the rising water. This piece reminded in a rather excited childlike way of that short journey across the stones.

The decisions I make about where colour goes in the overall composition are often the most exciting part of making a piece and the decision to colour one of those legs a brighter red was one of those little moments of excitement and clarity.

This piece of work is not designed to hold water.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
