The transparent turquoise glaze over one edge of this piece along with the other bluey green colours suggest something of the sea about this piece. The horizontal marks where made using a stencil which initially left the marks with quite a hard edge; I softened this by thinly brushing thick engobe over them. A small amount of black grog has been embedded into the soft clay around the bottom edge which add an additional textural quality.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
