I am always fascinated by the contrast between the ancient solid dark rocks and the ephemeral ever changing turquoise water at low tide around the coast at Godrevy. I am reminded of this place when I see this pot.
The bluey green side has a glossy glaze over it and the glaze has fortunately allowed some of the underglaze pencil and oxide marks to run which seems to emphasis the fluid quality. To make the texture on the darker side I drew lines through the wet dark slip and then dry brushed a white engobe over these marks which helped to emphasis but also soften them.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
