Height 18cm Width 13cm Depth 8.5cm
Dividing the surface of a pot into different sections and shapes is a satisfyingly creative process. In more recent work the shapes on the surface also effect the form of the pot resulting in a stepped edge as one shape juts out further than another. In this piece, the difference between the blue and white areas is emphasised further because of the overlapped edge. The blue section has a glossy glaze over slip and engobe which gives a contracting tactile quality to the otherwise matt surface.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
